What people are saying about Marcos

Marcos Yeager has been guiding around Esquel & Los Alerces National Park for 25 years.  No one has more experience as a guide or how to run a smooth, trouble free fly fishing operation.  Period!!!

"I have returned every year since (2006)"

"I first fished in Argentine Patagonia in 2006 with Greg Lilly from Montana who is known in the fly fishing industry.  Greg been hosting trips with Esquel Outfitters for over a decade and he described Patagonia as "the way Montana was fifty years ago."  To use a pun, I was hooked.  Marcos, the owner of Esquel Outfitters, and his great guides, offer a wide diversity of fishing programs from turquoise clear rivers surrounded by the Andes mountains, to camping in the high desert along a private river, to lake fishing and to spring creeks.

I have returned to Patagonia every year since, and have fished out of other lodges in both Argentina and Chile.  Yet, I have returned and fished six more times with Marcos and he has become a very good friend.  You will not find a harder working guide whos only wish is that you enjoy yourself and catch plenty of trout.  You will share many laughs and learn new Patagonia fly fishing techniques but what really separates Marcos from all the others is his genuineness.  There is nothing phony about how he runs his operation.  I have never felt like a client, but rather, he will make you feel like a friend."

"The kind of guides that I really enjoy spending a day with."

"In our past trips (5 of them & returning in 2019) with Esquel Outfitters we've been especially impressed with their guides.  They speak excellent english, know the streams, rivers and lakes like the back of their hands and their intimate knowledge of these fisheries has been a huge help to us and our clients.  In talking to these guys, it is evident that they have fished extensively in Argentina themselves over the years and know the latest fly fishing techniques.  They all have over 10 years guiding experience with clients from all around the world, but more importantly, they are very personable and helpful guys.  The kind of guides that I really enjoy spending a day with on the water!"

"On some rivers it is not uncommon to catch over 50 trout..."

"My fishing experiences with Marcos and his exceptional team of guides, camping crew, and chefs has always been a great experience.  I have traveled to Patagonia on five different trips and have found that Marcos's unique program, offering exclusive access to private waters, provides for exceptional fishing for big rainbows and browns in an environment where few, if any other anglers, are ever encountered.  On some rivers, it is not uncommon to catch over 50 fish in a day, with many over 20 inches.  I once landed a 6 pound brown on a private access stream that offers amazing hopper fishing during the summer months.  Marcos has custom designed trips for my wife and me that offered great fishing as well as beautiful outdoor settings.  The lodging, and even the camping, is very comfortable, the food outstanding, but it is the comradery that makes fishing with Esquel Outfitters so special and memorable.  I consider them my good friends!"

"Over the past 20 years I have hosted several group trips "

"Over the past 20 years I have hosted several group trips to Argentine Patagonia using Esquel Outfitters.  They offer a variety of great fishing options from big floatable rivers to small wadable streams, lakes and lagoons.  The guides are first rate, they work hard, and do their very best to make sure you have fun on the water.  El Trebol is charming, the food great, and the staff makes sure you have everything you could need or want.  Marcos runs a great operation.  I can't wait to return."

"We were welcomed as if we had arrived at someone's home."

"My wife and I first arrived at El Trebol in Feb 2017.  This lovely hosteria in Cholila is the home of Marcos Yeager and the lodge for Esquel Outfitters.  We were welcomed as if we had arrived at someone's home.  A comfortable living room with a warm fire, a well stocked bar, and delicious home cooked meals greeted us everyday.  The guest rooms were comfortable and clean and the service top notch.  The lodge is within 20 minutes of two amazing lakes and five world class rivers such as the Rivadavia, Carrileufu and Arrayanes.  Everyday was a new adventure, on new water with different conditions.  The overnight float trip on the Chubut is not to be missed and ranks as one of the best fishing experiences of our lives.  Esquel Outfitters is all about the fishing, so if you truly want the Patagonia fly fishing experience this is the spot for you.

We have fished many places in Patagonia, but when it came time to decide where to go in 2018, we chose to return to Marcos and El Trebol, not only for the great fishing but it felt like going home."
