FLYFISHING THE RIO PICO REGION

The Rio Pico Area is located three hours south of Esquel and offers Patagonia anglers the chance to explore a remote and untouched Argentina fishery. This region offers you an opportunity to catch large trout and enjoy a part of Patagonia that sees very little tourism. Nightly barbecues, fine wines and stories told around the fire make for an amazing experience.....

FLY FISHING THE FUTALEUFU CHILE REGION

This section is our favorite as it boasts both large volume and braided channels to fish. We typically start a day by enjoying a bit of walk-and-wade fishing as we cross the Rio Futaleufu. Throughout the day, our guides will lead you to the best spots, offering instruction when asked. Finish your day at Antucamay where you'll enjoy a superb meal, a full body massage or simply relaxing in our wood heated hot tub.

GEAR / EQUIPMENT

Fast action (3 - 5 piece) 6 weight travel rods are the best choice for an all-around rod in Argentina. Typically you will have 2 rods rigged all of the time (floating and sink-tip). An ideal combination of rods would be a 5 or 6 weight for dry flies and nymphs, and a 6 or 7 weight with a 200grain sink tip for streamer fishing.......

FISHING SEASONS

The Patagonian region of Argentina is typically fished from November through April, when many rivers in the North are still cold or frozen over. Spring-like conditions can be expected in November and December; summer conditions in January through mid-March; and fall conditions from mid-March until the end of April. As every trout fishermen knows, each season offers something special and distinct from the others.....

Whenever violations or infringements are verified, minutes are to be confectioned and sanctions (fines, seizure of equipment, etc.) in force in every province or National Parks, applied.....

ITINERARIES

Day 1 - Arrive in Bariloche, your Esquel Outfitters guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to Lodge El Trebol in Cholila. Travel time to Cholila is 2 ½ hours. Dinner served at El Trebol, overnight there....

International flights to Barilcohe will go through either Santiago, Chile, or Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the U.S., your will most likely go through Dallas, Washington D.C., Miami, or L.A. The major Airlines that service Argentina are American, Lan Chile, United, or Aerolineas Argentina. All domestic flights will most likely be on Aerolineas Argentina or Lan Chile.....
